Wide Leg Trousers

How many of you are tired of wearing sweats? I’m not talking about the comfort of them, cause they are a dream, but eventually boredom does set in at some point. Now don’t get me wrong, sweats can look very very cool, check out my style sessions how to style sweats here. But I was looking for something comfortable and also chic. I then found myself falling deeply in love with wide-leg trousers. They tick many categories for me, comfy - check, chic- check and completely wearable around the house and out and about - check!

So in this week’s style sessions I style up three different pairs of wide-legs for you. All currently current.

UNTREND

So many of us are so busy trying to fit in and be seen in the latest fashions that a sense of self is lost. There’s a piece missing of who we actually are. When it comes to clothing it should be a representation of who we are, a shiny gold cover saying look at me, I’m Kelly or so and so. What happens when you start to lose your sense of self or your own personal style? You lose yourself.

Dressing for you is way deeper than just clothing, it’s about who you are as a person. I go on and on about remembering to be you, I know it may sound stupid, but it’s not. I don’t know how many woman I’ve seen all wearing the same dress because they all want to feel special or in style or be seen in the latest trend. I on the other hand cringe at this. Why? Because I want to see something you’ve put together on your own, a representation of you. Now being inspired by someone else is totally great, it’s when we take that inspiration and copy it piece for piece not leaving any room for adding our own personal touch.

I had a great opportunity to collaborate with E. Macbean Swim, a new brand from London specialising in individualism. They praise the individual, no bullshit, just real people being themselves. This is what I am all about! So of course you can imagine how excited I was for an opportunity to collaborate on a slogan tee. Now let’s just say coming up with a slogan tee is much harder than you would think, but in the end, UNTREND it was and I couldn’t agree more!!!!!

Holiday DRESSing

Can you believe it, Christmas is this week??!!!! Thanks God this year is almost over. I totally get it’s been quite the shit show to say the least and now many of us are back in lockdown. But here’s the deal, as shit as it is we all have to try to make the best of it. I suggest grabbing one of your favourite party dresses and getting dressed up to stay home and party. When in doubt put on a party dress. Who says you can’t turn your home into a wonderful Christmas party central with the fam.

This week I style 5 different dresses for you. I style all these dresses with the same Zara boots which I am totally obsessed with and of course earrings!!!!! If you know me, you know I love an earring.

This week I’m so to collaborate with SUST Style, an online shop based in London specialising in sustainable womenswear and accessories. SUST Style is the brainchild of Loma Tai, once a lawyer/psychotherapist now a campaigner for sustainable living. Loma values aesthetic and sustainability and decided to marry the two together to form her beautifully curated online boutique. Detachable Collars

Collars are everywhere!!! The bigger the better I say!!!! But what if you don’t want to go out and buy a bunch of shirts with collars? Here’s what I suggest, go out and get yourself a few detachable collars, then you’ll be using what you already have in your wardrobe and literally just accessorising with a collar. This is such a good option as there are so many detachable collars out there on the market right now that you have the option to choose which kind you want.

Puffer Coats

I was never a fan of the puffer jacket that was until I moved to Germany. Have you ever experienced a German winter??!!! That should tell you right there. I had lived in London for 10 years, winter was like a big joke. I had a semi warm coat but not a bloody parka! Now I own a few puffer jackets. Puffers have come a long way since they first hit the fashion scene and thank god for that!!!!

HERE’S SOME GREAT PUFFERS FOR YOU HERE.

Winter Essentials

So here we are on the brink of winter. Yep, in most places around the world it’s getting cold. So what does this mean? Well, having a variety of warm clothes to keep you well, warm. This week I want to talk to you about must-have winter essentials, my must-have winter essentials.

When it comes to winter essentials for me, there’s a few things I take in to consideration: how versatile is it, will I wear it again next year, how’s the quality and does it compliment what I already have in my wardrobe.

I tend to stick with neutrals colours when it comes to my essentials. This means they can be mixed and matched with about everything I have in my closet.

Here are my top 10 Winter Essentials below.

Winter Essentials:

1. Long-sleeve tee and a roll-neck - I really really love COS Store, H&M has some nice ones, but I also love People Tree and Organic Basics.

2. Jumper in cashmere or cotton, avoid acrylic or polyester - My favourite jumper ever is a cashmere one by Sunday in Bed. It was an invest but man it’s amazing. COS also has some really nice cashmere jumpers for a good price. Also Navy Grey, Beaumont Organic, Maske and Babaa have beautiful knitwear.

3. Sweatershirt - You can make a sweatshirt look very chic, I promise. I have one from Weekday that I absolutely love! And it looks so nice with. a pair of jeans, blazer and boots. Simple and Chic

4. Sweat Pants - Who would have thought that sweat pants would be our saving grace? Yep since corona they are pretty much essential. But let me assure you, they can look so chic and very cool. I am living in my H&M ones, they are seriously so comfy. They are high waisted and have this great look about them. For a chic look, I tuck the pants into my combat boots and pair them with a blazer. For a casual cool look, I pair with high top trainers a bit oversized jumper and a beanie.

5. Jeans - Ok you all know how to shop for jeans. We’ve been wearing jeans for quite sometime now, but a good pair of jeans can go a long way!!!!!! I’ve just discovered the Levi’s Ribcage and for me personally, wow!!!!!!! Don’t skimp on jeans, get yourself a nice pair because the fit, the quality and the look will go a long way.

6. Blazer - Oh how I do love a blazer. I suggest having a black oversized blazer in your wardrobe. If just one, definitely this one. For those of you that don’t necessarily like an oversized blazer than definitely a nice good quality blazer blazer. I love AllSaints blazers and actually Zara have a few nice ones too, but definitely check out the mens section at your local charity shop.

7. Coat - A coat is pretty essential, so when it comes to your winter coat, buy one really nice one that will carry you through year after year. I suggest a minimal, elegant and neutral one.

8. Scarf and Neck Warmer - I absolutely love a massive scarf that you can wrap around you twice over. But I also love a neck warmer. My favourite scarf comes from Galerie Kaufhof actually. It’s soft, big and warm! I suggest trying out a COS neck warmer, or a Johnstons of Elgin cashmere scarf or honestly I’ve bought a few from Zara and they have lasted me years.

9. Hat and Gloves - My favourite beanie hat brand? Yep, Le Bonnet. I rave about them and I will keep on raving about them and I will in the future have every colour. LOL. I also like COS Cashmere beanies.

   Gloves - I really love Johnstons of Elgin or Falke these are my favourite.

10. Boots - I wasn’t sure about the chunky boot trend. I love how they look on our people but was unsure how they would look on me. I did a lot of looking before I settled on the pair I have now. I bought the Cosmic 2.0 from Vagabond and they are amazing. Good quality and super comfy.

Faix Designs

I can’t tell you how much I love a bum bag! Especially a cool, sustainable bum bag. I’m so excited to introduce you to Faix Designs. Once a Frankfurt brand (they recently moved to Freiburg, a very nice place to be) specialising in sustainable bags made from recycled plastic and vegan materials.

Anna Faix started Faix back in 2017 after studying and working the fashion industry for many years. She decided it was time to take her knowledge and experience and set out on her own. Sustainability is at the forefront of Anna’s brand, the whole production process from graphic design to fabrication is completely sustainable. Part of the bags are made in Portugal and the rest are made in Anna’s studio.

Anna’s designs are minimal and perfect for everyday use. Her signature is the clear grid fronts of her bags. In this week’s style sessions I take the Belt Bag WYSIWYG and show how to wear it with three different outfits.

Berlin Weekend

Oh the thought of holiday makes me so excited, especially a beach holiday!!!! I can’t tell you how much I love the sheer trend. I’ve been wearing sheer dresses over jeans or shorts for years now. It’s just something I really like to wear. But I know for some of you this trend may be a bit out of your comfort zone. In today’s style sessions I show you how to wear the sheer trend in a bit more risqué way and a bit more modest way. You can wear a sheer dress is a very modest way and it still looks phenomenal. Normally I lean more towards dressing in a more modest way but lately I’m pushing my own boundaries just a bit and it’s summer!
